M3 CSL with 750 bhp

August 30, 2007 by wimhendrix

With the new M3 hitting the streets these days, one might forget that the previous M3 is still a killer car. A company called G Power now offers the opportunity to put an M5 engine in an M3 CSL and adding a turbo charger to it. Total output power will be 750 bhp. Got to have one of those :-)

August 24, 2007 by wimhendrix

After major problems with the Xbox itself, it also seems like Microsoft is in deep trouble regarding the input devices for the Xbox. 230 000 steering wheel units will be recalled after users reported their wheel is overheating and even producing smoke.

Sire, er zijn geen Belgen meer

August 23, 2007 by wimhendrix

74 days after the election and still no government in Belgium and all of this because the Walloon party CdH refuses to agree splitting Brussel-Halle-Vilvoorde, something the highest court in Belgium ruled has to be done.

The result of this “play” that evolved the last 2,5 months is nothing else than a display of utter disrespect to the Belgian voters and Belgian law. As every good play, this story has is own comic relief, personified by the king who is being flown in and out from his holiday resort to mend the pieces back together.

The conclusion of this giant joke is simple: There is no more democracy, there are no more Belgians… there is no more Belgium.

Bamboo

August 19, 2007 by wimhendrix

Was doing some photo editing this weekend and got so fed up with using just the touch pad in photoshop that I decided to go out and buy myself a graphic tablet. Normally I’m one of those guys who does an extensive research on the web, read through a lot of reviews and finally make a decision suddenly realizing my product of choice is way over my initial budget :-)

This time it went completely different. I did some browsing on the web, compared some prices of products and found out that there is a considerable gap between tablets for home use and professional use. So I went out and bought myself a Wacom Bamboo, the latest in the non-professional line form Wacom. I’ve only used it 2 days now but I must say, WOW, I’m impressed! Especially for graphic editing I don’t understand how I could have managed with a touch pad or mouse until now. As a replacement for touch pad or mouse for just browsing or editing text documents, I’m not 100% convinced yet.

Jeremy Clarkson for prime minister of Belgium

August 17, 2007 by wimhendrix

Since Belgian politicians seem to be unable to decide who’s going to be the next prime minister and what plan the next government will execute, I vote for adopting Jeremy Clarkson and making him prime minister of Belgium if the petition for putting him in that spot is no success in th UK. A petrolhead as prime minister in Belgium, maybe my faith in politics could be restored afterall :-)

Wikipedia

That the CIA is involved laundering drug money through major Wall Street banks and is making sure opium plants in Afghanistan flourish more than ever, is already carefully documented. With the power they have, they are even able to control the media to some extend and try and cover things up.

Apparently the CIA (and the Vatican) also found a way to conveniently alter information on Wikipedia but got caught red-handed.

The biofuel myth

August 17, 2007 by wimhendrix

5 years ago, no-one ever spoke about biofuels, now they’re the latest hype that will save the world… or maybe not. New research published in Science shows a massive switch to biofuels might the a bigger mistake than sticking with fossil fuels. Go nuclear! Did I say that? :-)

Super computer solves Rubik’s cube

August 17, 2007 by wimhendrix

Ever tried solving one of these things? Sure you have :-) I had ago at it again not so long ago when – yes, men will always be kids to some extend – I entered a toy store and bought myself a brand new one.

To be honest, after hours of struggling and starting over again, I’m still struggling trying to put the last 2 blocks in the right position and today I read a super computer managed to solve the cube in just 26(!) moves. The computer needed 63 hours to come up with the solution so there is still hope for me :-) Although… some people do it in less 20 seconds …with 1 hand!

Boat trip

August 15, 2007 by wimhendrix

Today we were invited by friends to join them on a boat trip on the Leie, in and around the city of Gent. It was a last minute decision really since the weather forecast was predicting rain the whole day, not the ideal weather for a boat trip followed by a barbecue.

In the end, the weather turned out to be just fine with in the morning only small patches of clouds in the sky so we went to De Coupure to Minerva Boat Company were “our yacht” (:-)) was waiting. With a bunch of friends and some champagne we went out for a 2h trip on the Leie taking us all the way down to Drongen and Afsnee, as we were not allowed to head of in the other direction that would have taken us through the city center.

It was a very relaxing and enjoyable experience well worth doing again some day.
